Fire + Earth

The original exhibition of Fire + Earth was co-curated by Jonathan E. Smith and Shinjin Ozaki as an expression of partnership between the Burlington Art Centre and the Itabashi Art Museum. It features 57 of Canada's most accomplished ceramic artists. In this section, you will find essays written by the curators containing hyperlinks to artists and works featured in the exhibition.

The original exhibition of Fire + Earth took place at the Burlington Art Centre in 1997, prior to being shown at the Itabashi Art Museum in 1988.  Subsequently, it was shown at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Mackenzie Art Gallery in Regina, and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Where available, we have included installation photos in this section on Touring History.
