Description

Behind the Scenes depicts a performance artist standing in the wings waiting their cue to enter the stage. The surrounding decorations illustrate the narrative of the piece about to be performed. The viewers role in this drama is to place the backdrop into the stand to complete the scene.

Ceramicist Reed Weir settled in Robinsons NL after graduating from the Ontario College of Art. Her predominantly figurative stoneware sculptures reflect a belief that a rural perspective is essential to the wholeness of contemporary art. In 2007 Reed received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Craft from The Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador.
