DescriptionTo me the natural world comes alive when an artist transfers the image onto paper or canvas. I believe it was imprinted in our DNA from the time the first representation of the hunt was inscribed on the walls of caves. And like my ancestors Im inspired by the world around me. It can be anything- the lively chickadees or serene swans at the RBG, the Paletta waterfront and conservation areas in and around Burlington Ontario or the magnificent autumnal forests and tranquil lakes of Haliburton and Northern Ontario. My goal is to inspire and transport the observer to another place and time through my water colour and acrylic art. Cheryl Miles Goldring is a native Montrealer and retired ER nurse who has called Ontario home since 1968. In the 1980s she took courses in the ancient art of Chinese brush painting under Leo Wong and completed a certificate in landscape architecture, all at Sheridan College. She was elected as trustee to the Halton Public School board for two terms from 1988 to 1994. In 2002 she enrolled in traditional water colour and acrylic painting courses at the Burlington Art Centre. She was inspired by the natural beauty of the region and began to transform those scenes into water colour and acrylic art. She is an avid photographer, and her art reflects her photographic images. She writes fiction in her spare time, has completed her first novel and is currently working on a second. She has four adult daughters, two grandsons as well as three stepdaughters with her husband of almost fourteen years, Rick Goldring. |
