Ann Kelly Walsh
Ann is an enthusiastic pastelist. She loves the medium for its vibrancy and immediacy. Pastels produce multi layered effects which help create the light, form and "life" which she looks for in her subjects. Ann paints "plein air" year round, inspired by the sights and sounds of the great outdoors.
She teaches classes and workshops at the Burlington Art Centre, and for Visual Arts Mississauga.
She has been part of many group and juried shows and has won numerous awards. In 2005, she won an award of Excellence at the International Plein Air Paintout at Niagara Falls, and an Honourable Mention at the Society of Canadian Artists Open Juried Show.
Ann is published in the Pastel Artist International, International Artist Magazine, and in the book: How Did You Paint That? Flowers and Gardens. Her painting "Rotor", created on location in the Siemens Westinghouse plant in Hamilton, was purchased by the company as a 100th Anniversary gift for the parent company in Berlin.
She studied at Dundas Valley School of Art and the Burlington Art Centre, and at workshops in Canada, the United States and Europe. She includes Catherine Gibbon of DVSA and Gary Faigin of Seattle Art Academy, as valued teachers and mentors.
Her work can be seen in the Burlington Art Centre – Art Rental and at the Barber Gallery in Guelph.
Ann is a signature member of Pastel Artists Canada, Pastel Society of Eastern Canada and the Society of Canada Artists. She is currently Secretary of PAC.
